BOTOX® procedure overview

  • Procedure performed in a familiar setting
  • Patient time in office: 30 to 60 minutes1,2
  • Local anesthesia1
  • No postprocedure restrictions (eg, unless required with use of sedatives)1
  • Retreatment is usually about every 6 months but can be tailored to individual patient needs1,*

*Patients should be considered for reinjection when the clinical effect of the previous injection has diminished (median time until patients qualified for the second treatment of BOTOX® in double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical studies was 169 days [≈ 6 months]), but no sooner than 12 weeks from the prior bladder injection.1

Injection protocol1

  • 20 intradetrusor injections of 0.5 mL
  • 5 Units per 0.5-mL injection (100 Units in 10 mL)
  • 1-mL flush (saline)
  • Each injection is ≈ 1 cm apart and ≈ 2 mm deep
